Police: Several shot, one killed, after peace rally in Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Police in Alabama say six people were shot, one fatally, after a peace rally at a public housing community.

According to AL.com, police say the shooting happened at 8:25 p.m. Sunday at Gate City in Birmingham.

Birmingham police spokesman Sgt. Bryan Shelton says that all six victims were innocent bystanders. The condition of the other five victims was not immediately available.

Police say the shootings took place after a peace rally ended in the community’s Lewis Park. Earlier in the day, residents attended the “Stop the Violence Gate City Peace Day,” about two blocks away from the shooting scene,  CBS affiliate WIAT reported

Right now, police are searching for suspects, WIAT reported​. 

Police are investigating. Details about motive were not immediately available.
