Police searching for man accused of sniffing feet

MIAMI -- Police on the Florida International University campus are searching for a man accused of crawling under library tables on the south campus to allegedly sniff women's feet, reports CBS Miami.

FIU released a statement in regards to the incident saying they take the reports seriously. The staff at the library has been asked to contact police if they see the individual.

"I hate feet, couldn't imagine someone doing that to me. You would run," said student Arianna Fernandez to CBS Miami.

While some may find the situation humorous, some students find it upsetting.

"I think it pretty disrespectful," said Donna llerandi. "People come here to learn and that's what needs to happen. Stay away from the feet."

CBS Miami reports that psychiatrists say foot fetishes are common. And there's nothing wrong with them as long as it is with willing participants.

"I would be less concerned [that] they are aroused by feet and more concerned they couldn't exercise restraint and do it in a public place," said Dr. Daniel Bober to CBS Miami.

Police ask anyone with information to come forward.
