Police: Ohio man kills neighbor at school bus stop amid long-running feud

HOLLAND, Ohio — An Ohio man who shot a couple who live on his street, killing a woman, at a school bus stop amid what neighbors called a long-running feud has died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Lucas County sheriff’s office says Jimmie Pemberton died Tuesday night at a Toledo hospital, about 12 hours after the shooting.

Investigators say Pemberton shot the couple then set fire to their home and shot himself.

A school official says the shooting happened just before a bus arrived to pick up the couple’s second-grade child. The child wasn’t harmed.

He says students on the bus didn’t see the shooting but they did see the two victims on the ground.

Erma Oswalt, who identified herself as Jimmie Pemberton’s live-in girlfriend, told the Toledo Blade she saw Pemberton shoot the couple. She said Pemberton had been in an ongoing neighbor dispute with the couple, who lives on their street.
