Police: Michigan man beat neighbor in dispute over leaves
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. -- Authorities say a man was beaten during a dispute over leaves with his neighbor and his girlfriend pulled a gun on his attacker, according to CBS Detroit.
Jerry Thomas Ficht, 57, was arrested and booked into jail Thursday. He was arraigned the next day a charge of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder, according to the station.
According to Macomb County Sheriff's officials, deputies arrived Thursday to find a 52-year-old man lying in the grass -- bleeding from his ear. Investigators learned the injured man was blowing leaves off his property and onto Ficht's.
Ficht allegedly began to scream at the victim, then began punching him in the head until he fell to the ground, reported CBS Detroit.
Law enforcement say that the victim's girlfriend then came out of the house with a gun and pointed it at Ficht -- ordering him to stop or she would shoot. He complied and police were called.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he received treatment.
Officials say the woman who pulled the gun is licensed to carry a concealed weapon and the handgun was registered to her, according to the station.
Ficht remained jailed on Monday on a $10,000 bond and could face up to 10 years on the felony charge. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
