Police: Man killed girlfriend, told her ex-husband via text

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Authorities say a Montana man gunned down his girlfriend and then sent a text message about the killing to her ex-husband and others.

Anthony Tobias Fagiano has been charged with deliberate homicide. Bozeman police say the 35-year-old turned himself in Wednesday morning, about two hours after he said he broke into Darcy Buhmann's house and shot her.

Buhmann's ex-husband called 911 to report getting a text from Fagiano about the shooting. Police found her body in her bedroom closet.

According to court records, Fagiano told officers he had been in a relationship with Buhmann for about a year and had been thinking about killing her for several months. He said he recently stole a rifle, intending to use it to kill her.

Fagiano also told officers that Buhmann had received two orders of protection against him, according to CBS affiliate KXLH. Buhmann had taken out a restraining order as recently as February 21, Gallatin County Attorney Marty Lambert told the station.

Public defender Mary Kramer didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.

Fagiano's bail was set at $1 million.
