Police investigating after woman exits plane while it's taxiing in Houston

HOUSTON -- Police in Texas are investigating after a woman exited a plane while it was taxiing at Bush Intercontinental Airport, CBS affiliate KHOU reported

According to United Airlines, Flight 1892 from New Orleans had just landed at IAH around 1:15 p.m. When the plane landed, a female passenger got out of the plane. 

According to the Houston Police Department, the woman opened a hatch on the plane to exit. KHOU reported that police said she jumped out into an airport operating area.

CBS News transportation correspondent Kris Van Cleave reported that IAH airport officials said the incident did not disrupt airport operations beyond that flight.  

A passenger who was on the flight posted about the incident on Facebook.

“A lady opened emergency exit door which she was seated next to and jumped off plane. Ran to terminal,” she said.

Other passengers and witnesses turned to social media to share photos of the incident. 

No one was injured.

KHOU reported that the woman was detained for questioning.
