Police investigate body found stuffed in South LA refrigerator

LOS ANGELES -- Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a body found stuffed inside a refrigerator in a South Los Angeles apartment Tuesday.

Police said maintenance crews found the body while cleaning the second-floor apartment because the tenant was being evicted.

The identity of the victim was not known but detectives were treating his death as a homicide.

Police said there were no signs of a break-in and that it doesn't appear that the body had been there very long. A cause of death was not immediately known and detectives are awaiting autopsy results.
