Police: Texas boy, 15, charged in his mother's murder

LA MARQUE, Texas -- Police say a 15-year-old South Texas boy has been charged with first degree murder after his mother was found dead on Saturday, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.

On Saturday, authorities were responding to a call in the 2800 block of Fannin Street in La Marque -- about 50 miles south of Houston -- when they found the body of Nita Moseley, according to the station. Officials believe she had been dead for several days.

Her son was missing, but was later found unharmed. A 2014 black Nissan Maxima was also missing at the time, so police had reported the car stolen.

The 15-year-old has since been charged with Moseley's murder.

Officials with the Galveston County Medical Examiner have yet to release an official cause of death, according to KHOU.

A friend of Moseley told the station the victim had been four months pregnant.

Anyone with information is asked to call the La Marque Police Department at (409)-938-9269 or La Marque Crime Stoppers at (409)-938-8477.
