Pittsburgh Steelers' DeAngelo Williams defends 75-cent tip to pizzeria server

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams is defending his 75-cent tip to a server at a Maryland pizzeria.

CBS affiliate WUSA reported that Williams ate dinner Sunday night at Ledo Restaurant in College Park and left the small tip on his $128.25 bill.

His server took to Facebook to complain and restaurant workers blasted Williams on social media.

But Williams, who was in town ahead of Monday night’s game against the Washington Redskins, defended his actions, saying they got lousy service. He says he waited for an hour and a half for his food and his order was wrong.

Williams says he tried to leave exact change, but couldn’t.

After widespread backlash, Williams took to Twitter to defend himself, saying he use to wait tables so he “knows what I’m doing here.”

TMZ reported that the co-owner of the restaurant said the employee who complained would be fired.
