Pittsburgh police seek bank robber who may have caught bus

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh police have been searching for a bank robber who may have hopped on a transit bus to get away.

The suspect robbed a First Niagara Bank branch downtown about 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the man handed a teller a note demanding money, but didn't use a weapon. Nobody was hurt.

Police say the suspect is a black man, between 5-foot-9 and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black scarf around his face, a black hooded sweat shirt, a black hat and dark pea coat.

Police searched an area Uptown where they believe he may have gotten off the bus, but couldn't find him.

Investigators aren't saying how much money was taken.
