Person of interest named in 2007 murder case of Mich. girl
CONSTANTINE, Mich - A former reserve police officer is in custody, charged with perjury in connection with the 2007 cold case murder of a southwestern Michigan girl, reports CBS affiliate WSBT.
Jodi Parrack, 11, vanished Nov. 8, 2007 after going to a friend's house after school in Constantine, near the state's border with Indiana. She never made it home, and her body was later found in a cemetery.
Raymond Emmett McCann, 46, of Constantine, has been named a "person of interest" in the case, and the perjury charge stems from an investigation conducted by a state cold case team, reports the station. He is reportedly accused of lying to police during an interview.
WSBT says McCann was reserve Constantine police officer at the time of the girl's death. Once he became a person of interest in the case, he was suspended and later resigned, Police Chief Jim Bedell told the station.
Bedell told the station that McCann's son was a friend of Parrack's.
Police have never revealed how Parrack died, the station reported last year, but they have said that they found male DNA on her body, which was submitted again last year.
Police have also said she likely knew her killer, reports the station.
