Golfers' fight over water hazards ends at the hospital

UNIONTOWN, Pa. - State police say two golfers ended up in the emergency room after an argument over the rules on a southwest Pennsylvania golf course.

According to a news release from the Uniontown barracks, the suspects -- one man 42, the other, 63 -- were playing together at the Springdale Golf Course in South Union Township Sunday afternoon when "they became embroiled in a heated debate over the rules of golf, specifically regarding water, on the 5th hole."

The golfers managed to finish that hole and another before the argument "reignited" on the 7th hole "similarly involving rules, or lack of understanding of said rules."

"One of my pro shop employees got a call that someone got hurt up on holeNo. 7...they said with a club, and we thought (it) probably was a ball, " golf course owner Joseph Gudac Jr. told CBS Pittsburgh.

The 42-year-old was found at the 7th hole complaining of symptoms of a concussion, according to Gudac.

Both golfers were treated at Uniontown Hospital. Police are considering aggravated assault charges in the incident.
