​Parents recover baby switched at El Salvador hospital

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador -- A British man and a Salvadoran woman have recovered their baby son more than three months after he was mixed up with another infant and mistakenly handed over to another set of new parents.

DNA tests have confirmed the boy was the biological son of missionaries Richard Cushworth and Mercedes Casanellas. Both are residents of the United States.

The parents got the test results from prosecutors late Monday.

Chief prosecutor Luis Martinez said the two babies were switched. The doctor who delivered the child faces possible charges but denies any wrongdoing.

The other parents also got back their baby, also born May 21. Their identities have not been revealed.

The error was made at the private Centro Ginecologico hospital in El Salvador.
