Oscars 2016: Leonardo DiCaprio's win breaks Twitter records

It took six nominations, but we're guessing Leonardo DiCaprio thinks his Best Actor win at Sunday's Oscars was worth the wait.

Not only did the "Revenant" star take home Best Actor, he also broke a social media record after his win, which resulted in 440,000 tweets a minute.

DiCaprio didn't just beat out Ellen DeGeneres' star-studded, record-breaking selfie from the 2014 Oscars -- with Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, Lupita Nyong'o and more -- he trounced the former record. DeGeneres' moment resulted in 255,000 tweets a minute two years ago, just a little more than half of DiCaprio's numbers. Time for Leo to break out the vape pen.

Perhaps the actor has his mom to thank.
