"Octomom" Suleman gets March hearing in welfare fraud case

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Another hearing has been scheduled for March 11 in the welfare fraud case against “Octomom” Nadya Suleman.

On Monday, the 38-year-old mother of 14 - the last eight of whom are octuplets - was in Los Angeles Superior Court where her attorney, Arthur LaCilento, requested documents from the judge that LaCilento claims are critical to his client’s defense.

The hearing took only two minutes, with Suleman only once speaking to acknowledge that she understood what was happening.

The single mom is charged with failing to report $30,000 of income when she applied for public assistance benefits.

If Suleman can pay the money back, prosecutors have said they will attempt to resolve the case without a trial.
