Obama's 2008 campaign manager: Donald Trump is a "psychopath"

David Plouffe, campaign manager for President Obama’s 2008 White House bid, said Sunday that Donald Trump is a “psychopath.”

In an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Plouffe was asked why he thinks he miscalculated when he previously predicted Hillary Clinton couldn’t perform well in places like Colorado and Virginia.

“I think the assessment was that Donald Trump would try and do some things to appeal to the middle of the electorate, to appeal to suburban college-educated women. He’s not,” Plouffe said. “I mean, basically, we have a psychopath running for president. I mean, he meets the clinical definition, okay?”

Plouffe then said that Trump has a “grandiose notion of self-worth” and he engages in “pathological lying” and “lack of empathy.”

“So I think he does, right, I don’t have a degree in psychology,” he added.

Plouffe said he thinks “the race ends today” and predicts “Hillary Clinton is guaranteed at least 269 electoral votes,” he said, “because Virginia and Colorado, both campaigns I think believe are put away.”

There’s a 20 percent chance, he said, that the election could be decided by a two or three percentage points, but said he believes “it’s likely going to be a landslide.”

“I mean, you look at every state. So Pennsylvania, Donald Trump has less than zero percent chance of winning Pennsylvania. She’s sitting at 269. And I think states like New Hampshire, I think states like Florida, I think states like Ohio, Nevada, she’s clearly got the advantage,” he said.

It takes 270 electoral votes to win the election.
