NYC woman declared dead by EMTs -- wasn't

A Queens woman was declared dead early Thursday, but was actually alive, reports CBS New York.

Emergency crews rushed to a home in the New York City borough of Queens Thursday morning and found a 21-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head.

EMTs declared her dead at the scene, but two hours later, she started to make noise and had all her vital signs, the station says.

She was rushed to a hospital.

The New York Daily News reports she died several hours later.

The paper says her wound was self-inflicted, and the EMTs found her lying in a pool of blood.

The hospital told the paper an investigation was underway.
