Nicki Minaj sitcom headed to TV

Nicki Minaj is making a foray into television in a big way.

The 32-year-old pop star has signed on to executive producer and appear in a scripted sitcom about her life.

ABC Family has picked up the half-hour comedy centering on Minaj's family's move from Trinidad to the United States in the early 1990s. It will follow Minaj's path -- from growing up Queens, New York, to attending the prestigious LaGuardia High School in Manhattan, where she studied acting.

"This is one of the more unique adventures I've ever embarked on," Minaj said in a statement. "I couldn't be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special."

I am now launching a nation wide search to find #YoungNicki 😊😍💘
