N.Y. teen accepted to all 8 Ivy League schools

N.Y. student accepted to every Ivy League school

NEW YORK -- Getting into an Ivy League college is no small achievement, but a young man from Shirley, N.Y., has just been accepted by all eight of them: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania and Yale.

Kwasi Enin says that when he began to open the acceptance letters, he wasn't thinking he'd get in to all eight schools.

"I wasn't thinking full flush," he says. "I was looking through the list, and I was like, 'There's no way. Someone has to say no. That just doesn't happen.'"

When he got that last envelope and found out he'd been accepted into all of the Ivy League schools, Enin says he "kinda just sat back, took it in for a second and realized my little dream of getting into one of them became all eight."

The eight Ivy League schools on average will accept less than nine percent of applicants for the class of 2018.

The 17-year-old senior scored 2250 out of 2400 on the SATs. He was also a standout for a range of extra-curricular activities -- from second chair viola to starring in school musicals.

He says his biggest challenge now is choosing which school to attend.

"I think I'm going to visit them all again, let them persuade me," he says. "Pick the one I feel like I'd like to have to my name."

A son of immigrant parents from Ghana, Enin says it was his parents who inspired him.

Asked what his mom is doing with all of the acceptance letters, Enin says, "I think she's hoarding them and she is saying, 'Yes, yes, yes.'"
