New York man, 70, went for a walk in the woods, spent a week

AVON, N.Y. - Authorities say a 70-year-old man has survived a week in the woods after he fell while out for a walk in western New York.

Police say Donald Farrell was found Sunday morning amid trees and tall weeds about 2 miles from his home in the Livingston County village of Avon, 20 miles south of Rochester. Officials say he was found by his cousin on the cousin's property.

Farrell had last been seen going for a walk on the morning of Aug. 9.

He was taken to a Rochester hospital, where he's being treated for dehydration.

Police say he is in "excellent condition" considering he had been exposed to the elements for a week.

Farrell told officials that he fell while walking and couldn't get back up.
