NOLA college student, reported missing, found safe

NEW ORLEANS -- A New Orleans college student who had been reported missing has been found safe in New York with family members, her father told CBS affiliate WWLTV.

Shroq Aziz, 19, had last been seen Nov. 17. She left her house for class at Delgado Community College around 7:30 a.m. that day, but her family grew worried when she did not come home that night.

When her family went to campus to search for her, they found her car still parked in one of the parking lots, the station reported. Calls to her cell phone went straight to her voicemail, and family said it was unusual for her to be away for such a long time.

Her father said that Aziz called her mother to let her know she was well and that she had flown to New York, according to the station. The New Orleans Police Department also confirmed to WWLTV they had been in contact with Aziz.

There wasn't more information immediately available on why the teen left.
