N.J. Grinch gets season started stealing inflatable turkeys

KEANSBURG, N.J. -- A Grinch appears to be getting an early start in one New Jersey town.

Police in Keansburg are searching for a suspect swiping holiday decorations, including inflatable turkeys, from houses and lawns in the area, CBS New York reports.

Between last Friday night and Saturday morning, five houses were hit, including Thanksgiving decorations and the heist of a Santa snatched from in front of a house, according to the station.

"They just took it. They unplugged it, the air went out. It's very simple. Once you unplug it, the air goes out and they go down to nothing," said Richard Tringali, whose turkey was snatched.

Keansburg police reached out to the public on its Facebook page with a warning urging residents to secure their lawn decorations.

Inflatable turkey owner Monica Williams said she keeps an eye out.

"We have (the turkey) tied down... he's tied good. He's not coming down," said Williams.
