Netflix orders "Marvel's The Punisher"

Add "The Punisher" to the ever-growing list of Marvel TV shows.

Netflix has ordered a spin-off to its existing "Daredevil" series. Jon Bernthal, who first appeared as Frank Castle in the second season of "Daredevil," will star in "The Punisher." The streaming service has ordered a full season of the upcoming show, continuing its collaboration with Marvel Television.

Steve Lightfoot of "Hannibal" will serve as executive producer and showrunner.

"We want to thank the fans who are clamoring for more of Jon's stunning and powerful performance as Frank Castle from 'Marvel's Daredevil,'" said head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, in a statement on Marvel's website. "Now combined with Showrunner Steve Lightfoot's compelling writing, we're thrilled to bring 'Marvel's The Punisher' to Netflix."

The series will be Netflix's sixth collaboration with Marvel. Others include "Marvel's Luke Cage," "Marvel's Iron Fist," "Marvel's The Defenders" and "Marvel's Jessica Jones."
