2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year winners revealed

Only on "CBS This Morning," we reveal the winners of National Geographic's Travel Photographer of the Year contest.

Professional and amateur photographers from more than 30 countries took part and entered more than 15,000 photos.

A photo called "The Power of Nature" took the grand prize. The photographer captured the moment lightning struck an erupting volcano in Mexico.

Winner of the 2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year "People" category. Dilek Uyar

A photographer in Hungary won the "Cities" category for a picture inside a German library. Its windows provide the bright, natural lighting.

And a photo of a ceremonial Turkish dance took the top spot in the "People" category.

Other noteworthy entries include a shot of marble caves in Chile and a surfer caught inside a wave in Fiji. 

The grand prize winner receives a 10-day trip for two to the Galápagos Archipelago with National Geographic Expeditions.
