Natalie Portman to play Jackie Kennedy in new biopic

Natalie Portman is poised to play former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy in a new biopic.

The film, "Jackie," follows the first four days in Kennedy's life following the 1963 assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy, Variety reported Thursday.

"Jackie" will be produced by Darren Aronofsky -- who directed Portman's Oscar-winning turn in "Black Swan" -- and directed by Pablo Larrain ("No"). The project will reportedly begin production at the end of this year.

This isn't the only real-life role Portman is planning to tackle on the big screen. It was also reported earlier this week that she's been cast as Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the film "On the Basis of Sex."

Portman's upcoming slate also includes the Terrence Malik film "Knight of Cups" and her feature directorial debut, "A Tale of Love and Darkness."
