"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" getting a sequel
"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" is getting a big fat Greek sequel.
Nia Vardalos confirmed Tuesday on Twitter that she's working on the follow-up to her hit 2002 film.

She also said the "entire big fat family" is invited back for the new film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vardalos will reprise her role as a first-generation Greek-American woman, with John Corbett attached to return as the non-Greek man who fell in love with and married her.
THR reports that the new script involves "the reveal of a family secret and a new wedding" that brings the family together again.
Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks are among the producers returning for the sequel, alongside Vardalos.
"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" began as a one-woman play by Vardalos and went on to become one of the most successful independent movies of all time. It took in $241 million at the domestic box office and earned Vardalos an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay. It also spawned a TV spinoff, "My Big Fat Greek Life," which aired for one season on CBS in 2003.
Vardalos published a memoir, "Instant Mom," last year. She also co-wrote the 2009 film "Larry Crowne" with Hanks and has made recent appearances on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
