Murdered Houston couple ID'd, sketches of suspects released

HOUSTON -- Police have identified the young couple found murdered in their southwest Houston home as Jose Miguel Salinas, and his girlfriend, Melissa Ann Guerra. Both victims were 23, according to KHOU.com.

Their 4-month-old daughter was found lying between the bodies and crying. The horrific discovery was made at the Pavilion Place apartments in the 5200 block of Renwick at Westpark around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

A neighbor walking her dog heard a child screaming and crying and noticed the door open, so she went inside and uncovered the bloody scene.

The case mysterious both in the seemingly-random nature of the brutal crime, but also because no one heard or saw anything -- not even gunshots. One woman says her brother-in-law saw the suspects running. But there is no exact description of the suspects, says KHOU.

Police said there was no apparent forced entry into the apartment and he apartment had not been looted.

Relatives say Guerra worked at a clothing store, while her boyfriend was a stay at home father, because daycare was too expensive. The baby is currently in CPS custody, but relatives have come forward and plan to care for the child.
