Murder charge in fatal shooting of baby in car seat

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A man accused in the Cleveland shooting death of a baby girl who was riding in a car was arraigned Monday on aggravated murder charges, CBS Cleveland reports.

Davon Holmes, 19, was arrested Friday for killing the infant, 5-month-old Aavielle Wakefield, who was shot in the chest Oct. 1 while seated in her car seat in a vehicle driven by her mother. Her grandmother and 8-year-old sister were also in the car. Aavielle was the only one injured.

Lawrence Hilliard was also arrested in connection with this case for tampering with evidence and was taken into custody the same day at Holmes. He was released on his own recognizance.

Holmes was held on $1.5 million bond. No new court date has been set for him.
