Murder charge filed in death of southern New Jersey man

BARNEGAT LIGHT, N.J. -- Authorities have made an arrest in the death of a man whose body was found in his southern New Jersey home this week.

Ocean County prosecutors say Conrad Sipa's bail was set at $1 million.

The 52-year-old Colts Neck man faces murder and weapons charges in the death of Richard Doody Jr., whose body was found Monday at his home in Barnegat Light. Authorities had gone there after a family member reported they couldn't contact Doody.

An autopsy determined the 60-year-old victim had suffered blunt force trauma to his head and slash wounds to his neck. His death was ruled a homicide.

Sipa faces a life sentence if convicted of murder. It wasn't known Thursday if he's retained an attorney. A motive for the attack remains under investigation.
