5 people shot in 2 incidents in downtown San Diego

Five people were hit in 2 shootings in downtown San Diego Monday night, reports the CBS affiliate there, KFMB-TV. Authorities confirmed to the station that the five were taken to area hospitals with serious  -- but apparently non-life-threatening wounds. 

Police were on the scene, interviewing witnesses. They fanned out seeking evidence such as shell casings, and were checking trashcans. 

One witness told KFMB she heard at least 12 to 15 gunshots.
