"Mugshot McDreamy" Jeremy Meeks released from prison

STOCKTON, Calif.-- A man whose mugshot was a viral sensation in 2014-- spawning Internet memes and nicknames ranging from "hot convict" to "Mugshot McDreamy" -- was released from prison on Tuesday.

The Stockton Police Department posted the then 30-year-0ld Jeremy Meeks' booking photo to its Facebook page in June 2014, after Meeks was arrested on felony weapons charges. He was subsequently sentenced to more than two years in prison, according to CBS Sacramento.

In an post that appeared on both Meeks' Instagram page and that of a modeling agency Wednesday, Meeks said he's "overwhelmed and grateful for what lies ahead."

"I want to thank my family and everybody for all your love, support and prayers," Meeks wrote.
