Mother charged in death of newborn allegedly tossed from window

NEW YORK -- The mother of a newborn baby girl found dead outside of a building after apparently being dropped out of a window in New York City has been charged in the child's death, reports CBS New York.

Officers were called to the building Monday afternoon, after the wife of the building's superintendent found the baby's body in a courtyard.

The infant's umbilical cord was still attached, according to CBS New York.

The girl's mother was, Jennifer Berry, is facing charges for second-degree murder and manslaughter.
