Teen gets 30 years for plotting father's stabbing death

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. -- A young woman who pleaded guilty to plotting her father's stabbing death when she was 14 has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Morgan Lane Arnold, 17, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the May 2013 killing. She was sentenced Wednesday in Howard County Circuit Court, the state's attorney's office said in a news release.

Prosecutors say Arnold and her boyfriend, Jason Bulmer, who was 19 at the time of the slaying, plotted to kill 58-year-old Dennis Lane. Authorities say Bulmer slipped into Lane's home and stabbed Lane to death with a butcher knife.

Bulmer pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
