Mother posted video of son saving brother to warn others

Video of brother who catches baby brother goes viral

A video of a boy diving to the rescue when his baby brother rolled off a changing table has taken the internet by storm.

On Friday, CBS News spoke with Tila Levi, the mother of both boys. She said she posted the video online in hopes she could help others “by making them more aware and just letting people know that there is absolutely a danger.”

“You think that your baby is not going anywhere, but no matter how old they are, it’s happened to people all over the place,” said Levi, speaking to CBS News from Miami.

9-year-old saves baby brother from fall

Levi said she had just put her 1-year-old, Eitan, on the changing table when she turned her back to talk to one of her other four children. That was when -- in a split second -- the incident unfolded: her baby threw his left leg over the table and rolled off.

But as the baby fell to the ground, his 9-year-old brother, Joseph, made a diving catch. The incident was caught on a house surveillance camera.

“Instead of asking, ‘Mom, can I have a bowl of cereal?’ I just yelled, ‘Mom,’ and by the time she turned around I already had him in my hands,” Joseph told CBS News.

Now, Levi has advice for other mothers: “Pay attention, take things slow and don’t get distracted,” she said.

Joseph also has advice. He tells other big brothers to “always be aware of your little siblings.”

As for Eitan, who fell off the table, he’s doing just fine.

“He didn’t get hurt at all,” Joseph said. “Right now, he’s sleeping.”
