Moderate quake in Canada felt in Seattle area

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake hit late Tuesday night near Victoria, Canada, the United States Geological Survey reports.

The quake occurred about 85 miles northwest of Seattle. There is no tsunami danger.

Seattleites reported feeling tremors from the quake around the city, according to KIRO-TV, the CBS affiliate there.

There were no reports of significant damage or injuries, KIRO adds.

The temblor came about six hours after a 4.4 shaker in Southern California near San Bernardino. No damage or injuries were reported from that one, either. It was followed by at least two aftershocks.
