Missing Chicago toddler found dead

CHICAGO - A toddler reported missing in Chicago was found dead Sunday in a wooded area on the city's south side and the medical examiner's office has ruled the child's death a homicide.

The Cook County medical Examiner's office says an autopsy ruled Ameriah Roberson, 19 months, died of a subdural hematoma, a collection of blood on the surface of the brain, which is usually the result of a serious head injury.

The child had reportedly been left with her mother's boyfriend Sunday while her mother went to work. When the mother returned at 5 p.m., the child was nowhere to be found. The child's body was found around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, two hours before the child was reported missing, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

A police source tells CBS Chicago surveillance video shows a suspect carrying a bag near the site where the girl's body was dumped.

According to the station, the girl's parents were being interviewed by police Monday afternoon.

The Cook County State's Attorney's office is reportedly reviewing the case.
