Tech firm co-founder charged with killing ex's new husband

Social media tycoon accused of killing ex-wife's husband

ASHBURN, Va. - The co-founder of a California-based software company is charged with murder after police in northern Virginia say he fatally shot his ex-wife's new husband.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says 38-year-old Minh Nguyen shot Corey Mattison in Ashburn, Va. on Thursday night. It's unclear whether Nguyen has an attorney.

Police say Nguyen's ex-wife, who had married Mattison in recent months, and three of her children were at home at the time of the shooting. It's unclear if any of them witnessed it. No one else was injured and Nguyen was taken into custody without incident.

The Washington Post reports that Nguyen may be best known as co-founder of Plaxo, an address book software company in Sunnyvale, Calif. Nguyen's LinkedIn profile most recently lists him as an adviser to technology companies in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco.

Nguyen is being held without bond.
