Middle school cleaning lady tasered by Tennessee cop

COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. - A Collegedale police officer fired a Taser at a woman hired to clean a middle school.

The incident occurred on the evening of Jan. 11 after police searched the school for a possible intruder, The Chattanooga Times Free-Press reported.

According to a report filed by Sgt. Jamie Heath, he and officer Brian Desmond responded to the school after Desmond noticed an open door at the facility.

Heath wrote that once inside, the officers found the woman and asked her to identify herself.

"She obviously noticed us, as she looked directly at us, appearing to be nervous and somewhat reserved," Heath wrote in his report.

Heath wrote that the woman did not understand English and answered every question they asked her with the word "no."

The woman then walked away and Heath said the officers chased her across the school, attempting to stop her. Heath said at one point he warned the woman to stop or she would be shocked with a stun gun. He said she kept running until Heath fired the Taser and she fell to the ground.

The woman, later identified as 36-year-old Juana Raymundo, was arrested on a charge of evading arrest. She was released on a $750 bond and is due in Collegedale Municipal Court on March 2.
