Michael Fassbender gets a blast from the past in the new “Assassin’s Creed” trailer

For folks trying to wrap their heads around the new “Assassin’s Creed” movie, the latest trailer should help a lot.

Michael Fassbender stars in the adaptation of the popular video game franchise as death row inmate Callum Lynch, whose execution doesn’t go exactly as planned.

He wakes up to find himself in a strange facility, greeted by a mysterious, robed woman (Marion Cotillard). Before he can wrap his head around all the talk of Templars and assassins, he’s being strapped into a giant machine, having a needle stuck into the back of his head and being sent back in time to the Spanish Inquisition.
