Mayim Bialik criticizes racy billboard ad featuring Ariana Grande

Mayim Bialik says she has "no idea" who Ariana Grande is, but she doesn't want her kids to see the singer's latest billboard ad.

The "Big Bang Theory" actress recently penned a post, titled "The Problem with that Giant Billboard of Ariana Grande," for the Jewish parenting blog, Kveller.

In her piece, Bialik, a self-described liberal, describes her "socially conservative" approach to raising her two children -- Miles, 8, and Frederic, 6. Bialik says she's bothered because she doesn't want her kids "learning about sex from billboards."

"There is one for Ariana Grande, and I will go ahead and admit I have no idea who she is or what she does," Bialik wrote. "Based on the billboard, she sells lingerie. Or stiletto heels. Or plastic surgery because every woman over 22 wishes she has that body, I'm sure."

The billboard is reminiscent of the cover for Grande's latest album, "My Everything." The 21-year-old pop star is shown barely clad as she sits on a stool in a provocative pose, while grabbing for her stiletto heel.

"Why is she in her underwear on this billboard?," Bialik asked, "And if she has a talent (is she a singer?), then why does she have to sell herself in lingerie? I mean, I know that society is patriarchal and women are expected to be sexy and sexually available no matter what we do in society, but I guess now I need to explain that to my sons?"

Grande wasn't the only target in Bialik's post. The 38-year-old actress also criticized ads for Levi's as well as the hit Showtime series, "Masters of Sex."

"Am I a crotchety old lady? I guess so. But I just don't understand why this is what ads need to look like. What good does it do for humanity or society?," Bialik added.

As her blog post started to attract attention from the media, Bialik took to her Twitter page Sunday to clarify some of her remarks.

"Nothing personal against Ariana Grande or sexy women. Chill out, people. My @Kveller post was social commentary! Have a sense of humor!," Bialik wrote.

Grande has yet to comment publicly on the billboard criticisms.
