Massive fire at GE complex in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Fire crews battled a raging six-alarm fire which destroyed one building at General Electric's Appliance Park Friday morning.

Fire and smoke could be seen for miles around as about 200 firefighters were at the scene.

A shelter in place has been ordered for the area a half-mile around Appliance Park.

MetroSafe dispatchers said Building 6 at the company's corporate campus was evacuated after the fire broke out Friday morning. The blaze consumed the building and it appears to be a total loss.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.

A GE employee told CBS Affiliate WLKY the building contained a warehouse for parts and supplies and some offices.
