Man on Massachusetts' "Most Wanted" list captured in Florida

YARMOUTH, Mass. - A man on Massachusetts State Police's "Most Wanted" list was captured Tuesday in Florida, reports CBS Boston.

Twenty-two-year-old William Benton was wanted on five outstanding warrants. In April, he was allegedly involved in a stabbing in a Yarmouth home.

The station reports that police say Benton repeatedly stabbed the victim in the stomach after an argument over a threat Benton allegedly made to the victim while armed with a handgun.

In an unrelated incident in May, police say Benton shot at a man with whom he was arguing.

In both cases, the victims survived.

Benton has a long criminal history that includes 42 prior charges, many of which stemmed from violent crimes, police say, according to the station.

Benton is currently being held in Florida.
