Maryland woman killed after sex deal goes bad; two charged

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old woman in an apparent prostitution deal gone wrong, reports CBS affiliate WUSA.

Vaughn Darvell Bellamy, 23, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and a gun charge following his arrest on Friday. Barry Foxx, 24, is charged with accessory after the fact, according to the station.

Prince George's County police officers said Bellamy and Foxx are responsible for killing Catina Cortes, 25, at a hotel in College Park, Md. WUSA reports the two suspects were both taken into custody Friday morning at Foxx's home, where police recovered a handgun that is believed to be the murder weapon.

On June 3, officers were called to the hotel around 1:15 p.m. and discovered Cortes. The victim was inside a hotel room, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the station. She died at the scene.

Police said the initial investigation revealed Bellamy and Cortes had agreed online to meet at the hotel, and he was supposed to pay her for sex. The station reports Foxx was there to assist Bellamy with transportation.
