Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley's unconventional gig

It's a well-known fact that Gov. Martin O'Malley, D-Md., maintains a side gig as the frontman of O'Malley's March, which dates back to his days as aBaltimore city council member. But the governor seemed to go the extra mile on Memorial Day when he took to the streets of Annapolis with another instrument - the banjo.

Clad in a Baltimore Ravens t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops, O'Malley, who's considering a run for president in 2016, might have been mistaken for any other street musician. An open banjo case to his left implied that he welcomed tips from passersby.

His aides confirmed to the Washington Post that photos snapped by a local blogger were authentic. They did not, however, share what motivatedO'Malley governor to provide holiday weekend entertainment in the state capitol.
