Married attorneys charged in Va. stabbing attack

MCLEAN, Va. - A pair of married northern Virginia attorneys are charged with malicious wounding and abduction in a stabbing attack of another couple still fighting for their lives.

Police say attorneys Andrew and Alecia Schmuhl of Springfield remain in custody Thursday stemming from Sunday's attack in an affluent neighborhood in McLean, Va. They're being held without bond.

Police say 31-year-old Andrew Schmuhl forced his way into the home of a 61-year-old couple on Sunday night, stabbing both of them repeatedly in the upper body before one of them was able to activate an alarm and summon police. They remain hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The 61-year-old male victim is a managing partner at the northern Virginia law firm that recently fired Alecia Schmuhl.

It's unclear whether the Schmuhls have attorneys.
