Marisa Tomei to play Gloria Steinem in HBO miniseries

Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei has been cast as feminist-journalist-activist Gloria Steinem in the HBO miniseries "Ms.," reports said Monday.

Steinem is serving as a consultant on the project, which also stars Kathy Najimy, The Wrap reports.

The miniseries will examine the creation of Ms. Magazine in 1971 through the perspectives of the women who founded and ran it, as well as the women whose lives it changed during the early days of the Women's Movement.

Per The Wrap, Najimy will play Bella Abzug, a U.S. Representative who was among the leaders of the Women's Movement.

Bruce Cohen ("Silver Linings Playbook"), George Clooney, Grant Heslov, Tomei and Najimy are executive producing the project, which is currently in development.
