Mariah Carey rides the NYC subway in a glittering gown

Leave it to Mariah Carey to inject a little glamour into riding public transit.

The "Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse" singer took a ride on a New York City subway Thursday and documented it on her Instagram page. And while you probably take the train in more casual clothes, that wasn't the case for Carey - her subway-riding outfit of choice was a sparkly evening gown with a plunging neckline, fingerless gloves and stilettos.

In the caption, she called the trip a "joyride" and hashtagged the outfit #subwayincouture, because what else would she call it?

The subway ride apparently came after Carey attended a Fresh Air Fund gala. Check out another photo below:
