California deputies find man's burned body in dumpster

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Deputies patrolling in San Bernardino made a gruesome discovery after spotting a group of people trying to set fire to a dumpster early Friday morning, reports CBS Los Angeles.

As the deputies approached, the group fled in an SUV, ultimately leading police on a 60-mile chase, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. During the chase, the vehicle -- which was dragging a trailer behind it -- rammed into a police cruiser and sent sparks flying as the trailer swerved back and forth.

After about an hour, the man driving the SUV pulled over and got out of the vehicle. He and two juveniles were taken into custody.

When investigators examined the dumpster, they found the body of a man inside.

Detectives are working to identify the victim, who is believed to be in his forties.
