Man found dead at national park was shot in head with arrow

PORT ANGELES, Wash. - A Washington state man was found dead at a campground in Olympic National Park after being shot in the head with an arrow, and authorities are trying to determine what happened.

The Peninsula Daily News reports the short arrow that hit and killed the 54-year-old Joyce man was fired by a crossbow.

Clallam County prosecutor and coroner Mark Nichols says there's no obvious evidence of a crime, but the death of Christopher E. Boysen remains under investigation.

Boysen left his apartment to go camping Jan. 22. His body was found Feb. 4 after his landlord reported him missing.

Boysen's sister, Kimberly Boysen of Mastic, New York, says her brother owned a crossbow and used it for target shooting.

She tells the Port Angeles newspaper that authorities are trying to determine if his death was a homicide, suicide or an accident.
