Man arrested in murder of transgender Philadelphia woman

PHILADELPHIA --A Philadelphia man has been charged in the Oct. 6 murder of a transgender woman who was beaten, robbed and shot twice in the back, reports CBS Philadelphia.

Pedro Redding, 24, is charged with murder, conspiracy and weapons charges in connection with the death of Kiesha Jenkins. Redding has several prior arrests, including aggravated assault, robbery and weapons charges, according to police.

Jenkins had just gotten out of a car at around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, when she was attached by a group of five of six men, witnesses told police.

It's not clear if other suspects have been identified.

Redding's next court appearance is his preliminary hearing at the end of the month.
